Alistair's creation was a funny one.
Someone referred to me as "they", entirely unprompted and without me expressing (or ever really confronting that) that I was nonbinary. I walked home thinking about how it made me happy and...have you ever just had a character come to you? Name, looks, personality and all? Alistair was that. I had a gender crisis and he manifested before I reached the front door.
Alistair is also a representation and a reminder to not hide uh. Basically the mentally ill parts of myself lol. To feel and live it instead of trying to push it away. While Rumi would rather eat her bad feelings and pretend it does not exist until she explodes, Alistair wallows in it. Embraces the ugly things and rolls around in it, really.
Rumi and Alistair used to butt heads a lot due to their conflicting natures, though now Alli is happy to call her bestie and she'll roll her eyes but she sorta believes it.
